"She's either got a whistle in her throat or 3 nightingales up her sleeve." Maybe THE most amazing voice you are about to hear outside of opera... The first lp (bonus gallery will be added with the next update) never went out of print for decades! After her career in the 1950's Yma Sumac toured the Eastern block in the 1960's where she released a live album in Romania (below left) - maybe my favorite recording of her - and a compilation lp in Czechoslovakia. Also interesting is the comeback album from 1972 (below right) trying to cash in on the "psychedelic/rock" trend. Legend goes that this album was withdrawn because Yma did not like the drawing of her on the cover...
Kiek ma'!
